Conch Piercings
What is a Conch Piercing?
The conch piercing gets its name because this part of the ear resembles a conch shell. The piercing goes through this cup-shaped area adjacent to the ear canal, creating a unique and striking look.
Piercing Process and Healing for Conch Piercings
At our studio, we typically start conch piercings with a straight post, usually 16 gauge in thickness. Even after the piercing is fully healed, wearing a ring can be uncomfortable when sleeping. If you plan to wear a ring eventually, it's best to heal the piercing with a straight post first. Like other cartilage piercings, multiple piercings can be done on the same ear in one session. However, we will not perform cartilage piercings on both ears simultaneously due to the healing difficulties. You'll need to wait until all piercings on one ear are fully healed before we proceed with any cartilage piercings on the other ear.
Jewelry Options for Conch Piercings
Conch piercings are naturally framed by the rest of the ear, making them an excellent choice for more decorative post ends. We offer a variety of ornate ends from top brands like Neometal and BVLA. For more jewelry options, check out our selection of press-fit posts and ends in our online store.
