GETTING A PIERCING
-
No. The Piercing Place welcomes walk-ins, so an appointment is not required for most piercings.
However, we recommend calling ahead to make sure the piercer on duty can perform the specific piercing you're looking for. While all of our piercers are professionally trained, some specialized piercings—such as dermal and surface piercings—may only be performed by certain members of our piercing team.
To check availability before you come in, simply call us at 437-233-8965.

You'll usually feel a quick pinch, but the actual piercing is over in just a few seconds. Pain varies depending on the piercing location and your individual sensitivity, but many clients are surprised by how quick and manageable the experience is.
Our experienced piercers take the time to keep you comfortable and relaxed, especially if you're nervous or getting your first piercing.
-
We recommend eating a proper meal beforehand, staying hydrated and avoiding arriving on an empty stomach. Wear comfortable clothing that gives your piercer easy access to the area being pierced.
Most importantly, don't be afraid to ask questions. At The Piercing Place in Markham, we'll explain the procedure, discuss titanium jewelry options and make sure you're comfortable before we begin.
-
Yes. Many clients choose multiple piercings during the same visit, particularly when creating an ear stack with combinations such as lobes, helix, flat, conch and tragus piercings.
However, at The Piercing Place, we generally recommend a maximum of four new piercings at one time. Every piercing creates a wound that your body needs to heal. Getting too many piercings at once can place unnecessary stress on the body and may make the healing process more difficult.
Your piercer can help you plan your piercings in stages so you can achieve the look you want while giving your body adequate time to heal.
-
The actual piercing usually takes only a few seconds. Most of your visit is spent choosing jewelry, discussing placement, preparing the area, marking the piercing location and reviewing proper piercing aftercare.
We don't want the process to feel rushed. Our goal is to make professional body piercing as comfortable, straightforward and stress-free as possible.
-
Absolutely. We see nervous clients every day, including people getting their very first piercing.
The Piercing Place was designed to be friendly, welcoming and non-intimidating. Our experienced piercers will explain the process, answer your questions and give you time to feel comfortable. There's no attitude and no reason to feel embarrassed about being nervous. We'll help you through it.
-
Of course. Not every piercing works with every person's anatomy, and placement can make a huge difference in how the finished piercing looks.
Our professional piercers can assess your anatomy, discuss the look you're trying to achieve and recommend piercing placements and titanium jewelry that complement your ear, face and individual style.
-
Yes. Having a friend, partner or family member with you can make the experience more comfortable, especially if it's your first piercing.
If you're both feeling adventurous, you can even get pierced together. During particularly busy periods, however, we may need to limit the number of people accompanying clients into the piercing area.
-
We perform professional body piercings using sterile, single-use piercing needles, not reusable piercing guns.
Professional piercing needles allow for precise placement and are specifically designed for body piercing. Combined with quality titanium jewelry, proper sterilization procedures and experienced piercing technique, this helps us maintain the high standard of care we want for every client at The Piercing Place in Markham.
-
We'll start by discussing the piercing you want, assessing your anatomy when necessary and helping you select your titanium jewelry.
Your piercer will then prepare the area, carefully mark the placement and allow you to approve the position before the piercing is performed. Once your new piercing is complete, we'll explain proper aftercare and answer any questions you have before you leave.
